Chances are, like most people, you got your Nintendo Wii to play Wii Sports. A common problem that I'm no stranger to -- these things happen. Unfortunately, there's not a lot else to play with the little guy save for a few Mario titles here and there, maybe a WarioWare one now and then, but that's about it. In hopes of quelling this dilemma, you might find yourself at the game store, aimlessly grabbing at the boxes and hoping for one to make some sense when you stumble upon Little League World Series Baseball
2008. Put it back down! Like Wii Sports, Little League has you swinging the "Wiimote" to swing, pitching to pitch, etc. The problem here is that the game also has you shaking the damn thing for nearly everything else. Running? Shake it! Sliding? Shake it! Catching? Enough already! Every single time I picked up the game I walked away significantly more tired than I was previously, but only on one side of my body. Aside from the "shake for everything" phenomenon plaguing Little League World Series 2008, the game looks really great and distinctly Japanese (ala "Baseball Stars" for NES if you can remember that far back). Team development is surprisingly fleshed out as well, but in the end, Little League World Series Baseball 2008 comes up short on gameplay. Stick it out for Wii Sports 2 (Wii Sports Resort).
Gameplay: 4.0
This game would have been a lot more fun on a regular gamepad.
Graphics: 8.5
The most charming part of an otherwise lackluster package.
Sound: 8.0
Old-school sounding and very genre=appropriate. Forgettable in the right
way.
Value: 6.0
Maybe good if you have kids but otherwise not worth your $49.99 for what it
delivers.
Overall: 6.6
If your kid's pulling your pant leg for it, head to Blockbuster and save
yourself the dough and him/her the boredom.
