Walk the Talk 2011
by Tina JohnsonWalk the Talk 2011 was a shoe and accessory party for the cities most stylish fashionistas. While some attendees were fashion bloggers, others we style seekers. The event was held at Showroom 77, hosted by Rebecca Pollard and Tweety (aka young hip chic). The cities best fashion bloggers were not only in attendance but also very happy to sponsor this chic event. Sponsors included Open Sky, FabuLyss, PrettyPrettyRebel and Lauren Luna. Also featured were vendors Mijourne and Sole Girl Shoe Party.
If you are a fashion lover this event was "to die for." Every inch of this room had style. Even the guest exuded their own personal style! Each article of vibrant colored clothes & the personalized accessories told a story of the individual. While indulging on cupcakes and appetizers, fashionistas became engaged in each area of the room. A room strategically designed to take you on a journey. Imagine this...When you approached the event you grace the red carpet and are immediately identified and greeted with a goodie bag filled with surprises. Following, you head down a hallway (which broadcast shoes) leading you into "the room of fashion". While you can imagine manikins adorned with clothes and tables draped in accessories, I made a dash for the shoes. Obviously!! In additional to shoes being both featured and sold, Sole Society donated 30 pairs of shoes to lucky bloggers in attendance. Other giveaways were given to guest via raffle. Prizes featured a day with a stylist, clothes, shoes, etc. In addition, guest received discounts on boutiques and promo codes which were exclusive to attendees of this event.
While I was unable to have a sit down interview with every person who made Walk the Talk 2011 a success, I did pick the minds of two of my favs.
Rebecca Pollard was the first person on my list. She's a Virginia native who moved here at 15yrs old. She very quickly learned to love Philadelphia's unique & eclectic style. She states, "Fashion is all about personal expression- and there's nothing like being comfortable enough with yourself to wear whatever you like, no matter what anyone thinks. JUST ROCK IT! ...Fashion gives people an outlet to express who they really are...". Specializing in shoes and with a love of customization and creativity Rebecca embarked on the process of becoming a Blogger of shoes. She enjoys networking and meeting different kinds of people with the belief that anyone can have there own style and you can do it for LESS!!! Next on my list of loves from the Walk the Talk 2011 Event is Alyssa Danese aka FabuLyss. Alyssa is from Philadelphia's surrounding suburbs and identifies fashion as being an expression of art, personality and mood combined. Although she has recently moved to Wilmington DE, she has the Philadelphia "swag" and hopes to sprinkle it all over the town for a fraction of the cost. I would describe Alyssa as a "go-getter".. if it isn't in her closet; she gets it...if it isn't in stores; she creates it! Using herself as the ideal consumer she has easily become appealing to young and ambitious women who are NOT afraid to express themselves through passion. Looking for Alyssa Danese?
