The Career Wardrobe

The cycle of giving...Fashion Edition

The Career Wardrobe is an organization based out of the Philadelphia Area. People from in & out of our city volunteer to help empower women. It began 16 years ago and initially serviced 36 women. Now the organization has made a name for itself and is currently helping more than 70k women who have previously encountered a rocky past. The women who benefit from this program come from Social service agencies and battered women shelters. After the women have successfully completed programs with alternate agencies, Career Wardrobe helps them reestablish their place in the work force. Career Wardrobe offers many programs to help each women potentially succeed. Women going through a training period in which they will participate in dressing seminars, resume workshops, finance guidance, and training in their field of choice.

This program thrives off donations of many kinds. Although monetary donations are helpful clothing is much appreciated too. Women in this program need just about anything you can imagine. They have several donation drives within a month and make arrangements to come pick up items at your home if you are unable to attend a clothing drive. If you decide monetary donations are best you can join the support group called 153. 153 is exactly how it sounds. The staff anticipates it would cost approximately $153 dollars to get each women started. This would contribute to the educational programs and networking tools each women will need.

The Career Wardrobe is a strong local support system in our area. Many work voluntarily to keep this organization flowing. If anyone would like to volunteer please contact me @worldisourunway or check out the website careerwardrobe.org
