Graffiti Inspired Clothing
by Priscilla WardArtoxication is a graffiti inspired clothing brand. The Philadelphia based brand is built completely by hand painted, one of one, meticulously designed pieces, which spawned a more affordable collection of the hand painted designs in screen printed form to meet demand. The brand has developed into a line for both men and women with designs inspired by a long career in graffiti art, yet entirely different than anything else offered in both the fashion and graffiti industries. Without computer assistance, the artistic element cannot be missed, relying only on disciplined execution of original art designs on clothing via painting, rather than popular trends.Brainchild Stanley Mitchell, began pursuing graffiti as a youth and later it developed into legitimate ways of self-expression. Mitchell’s artwork is a staple in First Fridays in Old City, Philadelphia, where artists are free to sell their works once a month in the streets to the public. With a large catalog of over 60 canvas paintings and counting, including the well-received “Dedication” series of maze like paintings, his path continues to be that of a passionate artist making a respectable career out of creativity and calculated long term strategy. In addition to over 60 original paintings and even more pieces of custom clothing, Mitchell creates films, advertisements, comics, and drawings while continuing to make even more contributions in creative fields. With plans of expanding into menswear and casual womens clothing in 2012 and continued support from the arts community, Mitchell has brand plans to go from a local staple to a global force.
